The following flowchart illustrates how submitting a proposal affects the determination of applicant status:

( Please note: for an audible description of the contents of this flowchart, there is a Spot On Womens/Ladies Strappy Shoes Burgundy fhfuddZ
on the subject of EPSRC 's Repeatedly Unsuccessful Applicants policy, at the end of this page. A transcript of this video will follow in due course.)

The calculation used to determine whether an applicant has constrained status is determined by:

Calculation 1 Calculation 2

Applicant status is calculated by EPSRC on a monthly basis.

Applicants and their host institutions will be informed of any changes to their applicant status by email. Applicants will also be notified by email if their personal success rate is below 25% and the submission of a further proposal ranked in the bottom half of a funding prioritisation list, or rejected before panel, will result in constrained applicant status.

Applicants who are repeatedly unsuccessful over the previous 24 months, and are placed in constrained applicant status, are defined as those who have:

Constrained applicants are only eligible to submit one application, as either a Principal or Co-Investigator, for a 12 month period following notification of their change in status. Constrained applicant status automatically ends at the end of this 12 month period. However, further unsuccessful submissions may result in a further period of constrained applicant status.

Your applicant status can be determined using EPSRC 's wdjjjnnnv Ladies Ankle Boots Hollow Leather Lined Flat heel Warm Casual Comfort Elasticity Shoes BROWN35 xVQJfS7X4Q
service. You will need the application reference number (starting 'EP/...') of any proposals that have been submitted to EPSRC in the past 24 months and have been either successfully funded or rejected following peer review assessment.

In order to check where your proposal was placed on a funding prioritisation list, enter your application reference number into the search box. This will provide a link to the rank ordered list of proposals ('Rank Ordered List Panel') from the panel that considered your proposal. Note that unsuccessful proposals that were not considered by a prioritisation panel are not included in this data.

EPSRC calculates your personal success rate by dividing the number of funded proposals where you are the Principal Investigator by the total number of proposals where you are the Principal Investigator and that have been either successfully funded or rejected following peer review assessment.

If you have been contacted about restriction, but feel you do not meet the criteria then please contact the EPSRC Portfolio Manager for your research area . If your disagreement remains unresolved, your query will be escalated to the relevant EPSRC Head of Theme .

This book explores the experience of the Society of Friends (Quakers) in northern Virginia between the 1730s and 1865. The spiritual convictions of this religious minority, particularly the belief in a divine spark within all people, committed them to non-violence, gendered spiritual equality, and (after the American Revolution) antislavery. These principles, along with their distinctive dress, speech, behavior, and marriage patterns, made Friends dissenters within eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Virginia, where white residents embraced slavery and a violent honor code. Friends faced intensified pressure in moments of crisis-when war came to Virginia and during the deepening sectional crisis after 1830-convincing many to move the Old Northwest. Those who remained participated in the economic and civic life of this borderland southern region. Seeking to transform the region through example, they embraced free labor, agricultural improvement, economic development, and a variety of civic reforms designed to demonstrate the superiority of a free labor economy. But Friends could not escape entirely the influence of the broader society. Some became entangled in slavery or embraced southern racial attitudes, and all faced difficult questions about means and ends as they tried to effect social change. Quakers also faced internal tensions caused by migration and theological disputes that expanded the responsibilities of women in the Society. These external and internal pressures culminated during the Civil War. Out of the war emerged a transformed Quakerism, which placed less emphasis on behavioral rules and more on Friends' efforts to effect moral reform in the world.

Sorry. Don’t agree.

That should be easy to settle: If you’re able to cite 5 recent journal articles from a field for which the following three things are true, I’ll agree you’re right for that discipline: 1. Published in a top journal (depending on size of the discipline top 5 or 10) 2. Using a convenience sample of some type to 3. Make claims about a larger population without a discussion about generalizability of the sample to said population in the paper itself.

Look, I’m not interested in getting into some “my credentials are amazing/my field is best” pissing contest with you. I’m making a basic point about populist critiques of research methodology. People on Twitter are acting like this is the research scandal of the century, and that’s just not true.

The Temporary Name 05.07.15 at 10:58 pm

Then make it.

I’m making a basic point about populist critiques of research methodology.

Freddie deBoer 05.07.15 at 11:23 pm

I see The Internet’s Most Self-Important Commenting Section hasn’t lost its edge in recent years.

adam.smith 05.07.15 at 11:27 pm

Freddie, what you started out with here was:

which I hope you realize is super condescending and also rather ridiculous given that a) a lot of the people here are active researchers and b) Eszter, who wrote the original post, is one of the pre-eminent researchers working on the effects of social media.

As for Twitter, in my feed I see a lot from Zeynep Tufekci, who is also a widely published and respected researcher on social media and the public. So, as someone with no relevant research experience and really not terribly impressive academic credentials to come around and explain to the plebes how research works is pretty rich.

these comments demonstrate the common condition of people who aren’t researchers radically overestimating what common research standards of publication are.

The Temporary Name 05.07.15 at 11:34 pm

As someone with far less impressive credentials than anyone concerned, I’d just like someone to show me that their view of generally prevailing standards is correct (and I don’t care if it’s adam.smith’s field or not).

Freddie deBoer 05.07.15 at 11:44 pm

“which I hope you realize is super condescending and also rather ridiculous given that a) a lot of the people here are active researchers and b) Eszter, who wrote the original post, is one of the pre-eminent researchers working on the effects of social media.”

I said nothing whatsoever about Eszter or her credentials.

“As for Twitter, in my feed I see a lot from Zeynep Tufekci, who is also a widely published and respected researcher on social media and the public. So, as someone with no relevant research experience and really not terribly impressive academic credentials to come around and explain to the plebes how real research works is pretty rich.”

1. That’s not what I did. That’s not remotely what I did. And it’s very telling that you’ve projected that baggage into an innocuous and not-at-all-insulting expression of mildly dissenting opinion. (From my first comment, literally: “I don’t disagree….”)

2. Literally every argument of yours here is purely asserted arguments to your own expertise, which has involved you claiming to be a big shot, making fun of other people’s fields, and grandstanding about what a big deal you are.

3. All of this is straight from Crooked Timber’s playbook: fake a kind of milquetoast warm milk liberal egalitarianism, but the second you get alternate opinion on the slightest issue, start talking about your Ivy League credentials. I don’t play that. I’m not impressed by you, your anonymity, your asserted credentials, credentialism in general, your totally uninformed take on me or my abilities, your cloying condescension, or your very conservative endorsement of straight-up meritocracy mythology. If you are really this hurt by alternate opinion, it’s hard to understand how you function in the world at all.

Keep putting the “less” in bloodless, Crooked Timber. The next time you guys like to posture about your lefty cred, remember that this is a place that lives and dies based on who is more shameless in flogging their degrees.

Tranquilizers are a unique and potentially dangerous class of drugs used to induce states of relaxation and feeling of artificial tranquility. Individuals struggling with mental health issues and frequent anxiety attacks often use tranquilizers to help "calm themselves down."

Tranquilizers fall into two basic categories: Major and Minor. The difference between the two is obvious—"major" tranquilizers like Thorazine, Haldol, and Prolixin are used to treat severe cases of mental disturbances, while the "minor" tranquilizers like Xanax, Valium, and Librium are used to help individuals with more minor mental health symptoms.

Used within the boundaries of a prescription, tranquilizers can help reduce anxiety and may also induce sleep. But the effect of this drug, which depresses the central nervous system, can be used for a different reason than fending off the occasional anxiety attack.

Are Tranquilizers Dangerous?

The short answer is, "yes." The dangers of the drug usually come in two forms:

Are Tranquilizers Addictive?

The sedative effect of tranquilizers may seem mild when compared to most illicit drugs, but a recent study estimated that millions of tranquilizer addicts exist in our world today.

The state of happiness and relaxation allows the user to escape reality. After using the drugs, many users find that they can't achieve these feelings without tranquilizers, and they become dependent on the substance.

Studies have demonstrated the dangers associated with tranquilizer drug use. Men and women of all ages have shown vulnerability to addiction. The following statistics are related to tranquilizer use and addiction (the stats are from an American perspective, but equally apply to India):

A prolonged use of a tranquilizer can often lead to a dependency on the drug. And any time your mind is depending on something to function normally, serious health problems and poor life choices can be expected.

Symptoms of Tranquilizer Addiction

Maybe you're concerned about your tranquilizer addiction, or perhaps you believe a friend or family member has developed an addiction. The following are a list of signs and symptoms—taken from "Addiction Hope"—to look for if you’re suspecting a tranquilizer addiction:

If any of these symptoms sound like something you experience after taking a tranquilizer drug, you need to find help.

What are Tranquilizers Commonly Know as?

Popular street names for the drug include downers, sleeping pills, candy, tranx, benzos, moggles, or bennies.

Tranquilizer Treatment

If you think you've identified an addiction to tranquilizers, either in yourself or a friend, the next step is finding a treatment facility that will meet your needs.

Once you find a treatment program you'll need to choose between an "inpatient" or "outpatient/ residential" treatment service. A natural apprehension towards living in a treatment facility is normal, but your recovery can greatly benefit from a having a trained professional monitor your progress.

If treatment is your next step, I would encourage you to browse our directory of rehab centres and contact one to begin your recovery.
